The ARP External-Balance Flexplate Bolt Kit provides high-strength flexplate mounting hardware for compatible Chevrolet engines equipped with a one-piece rear main seal. This six-piece kit uses 7/16-20 chromoly bolts with compact 12-point heads.
ARP designed these bolts specifically for automatic-transmission flexplate installation. They install directly against the flexplate without washers and are tightened using Loctite 242 on the threads and ARP Ultra-Torque lubricant beneath the bolt heads.

Fitment is determined by the crankshaft, rear-main-seal design, flexplate balance configuration, bolt thread, and flexplate mounting dimensions—not merely by the vehicle year or engine displacement.
Confirm that the engine uses a one-piece rear main seal and requires an externally balanced flexplate before ordering. These are automatic-transmission flexplate bolts and are not intended to replace manual-transmission flywheel bolts.

Washers are not included because ARP specifically requires these bolts to be installed without washers. Loctite 242, ARP Ultra-Torque lubricant, the flexplate, and installation tools are not included.
Installation
Confirm that the flexplate has adequate chamfer around each bolt hole to clear the radius beneath the bolt head. Insufficient clearance can prevent the bolt head from seating correctly.
Do not install washers beneath these bolts. ARP states that the bolts are designed to seat directly against the flexplate and warns that using washers can result in fastener failure.
Apply Loctite 242 to the bolt threads and ARP Ultra-Torque fastener assembly lubricant beneath each bolt head. Install the flexplate and tighten the bolts hand-tight. Using an alternating or crisscross pattern, torque the bolts to 85 ft-lb with the specified lubricants.
Verify the engine, crankshaft, flexplate balance, rear-main-seal configuration, bolt-hole chamfer, and torque procedure before final assembly. Professional installation is recommended when performing engine or automatic-transmission service.
