Installation and Break-In
Inspect and clean the CVT clutch sheaves before installing the new belt. Remove old belt residue, glazing, oil, and debris from the clutch surfaces and verify clutch alignment according to the vehicle manufacturer's specifications.
Gates recommends properly breaking in a new G-Force CVT belt before severe use. Gradually heat-cycle the belt during initial operation rather than immediately subjecting it to full-throttle acceleration or heavy loads.
Proper installation, clutch condition, alignment, and belt break-in can significantly affect CVT belt performance and service life.
