Gates 44405 Timing Belt-Driven Water Pump for Honda and Acura

Restore proper engine-coolant circulation with the Gates 44405 replacement water pump for select Acura Integra B18C B18C5, Honda Civic Si, and Honda Civic del Sol VTEC applications.

This new, timing belt-driven water pump is designed to match the original pump’s fit, mounting configuration, coolant flow, and pulley alignment. Gates uses a cast-aluminum housing, stamped-steel impeller, unitized bearing and shaft assembly, and tested sealing components for dependable cooling-system operation.

Because the water pump is driven by the engine timing belt, replacing it during scheduled timing-belt service can reduce duplicated labor and help avoid reopening the timing system later.

This listing includes one Gates 44405 water pump and one rubber sealing ring.

Water Pump and Timing Belt Service

This water pump is located within the timing-belt system. Accessing it requires removal of timing covers and related components.

When service history is unknown or the timing belt is near its replacement interval, inspect or replace the following components at the same time:

  • Timing belt
  • Timing-belt tensioner
  • Camshaft and crankshaft seals
  • Accessory-drive belts
  • Engine coolant
  • Related hoses and clamps

Symptoms of a Worn Water Pump

A worn or failing water pump may cause:

  • Coolant leakage near the timing-cover area
  • Engine overheating
  • Coolant loss
  • Bearing noise
  • Grinding or rumbling from the timing-belt side of the engine
  • Pulley movement or bearing play
  • Coolant residue around the pump or drain opening

Cooling-system symptoms can also be caused by a radiator, thermostat, hose, fan, head gasket, or other component. Diagnose the system before replacing parts.

Installation Note

Professional installation is strongly recommended.

Follow the applicable Honda or Acura service procedure when removing and reinstalling the timing belt. Confirm that all timing marks are properly aligned before rotating or starting the engine.

Clean the water-pump mounting surface thoroughly without damaging the aluminum housing. Install the supplied sealing ring as directed and tighten the mounting bolts evenly to the vehicle manufacturer’s specification.

Do not overtighten the mounting bolts. Tighten them evenly to the factory torque specification to avoid damaging the aluminum housing, sealing ring, or engine threads.

Refill the cooling system with the correct coolant mixture, bleed trapped air, inspect for leakage, and confirm normal operating temperature after installation.
