Installation
Inspect the accessory-drive system before installing the new belt.
Check the belt tensioner, idler pulleys, fan drive, alternator pulley, and other related components for wear, misalignment, binding, or contamination. Replace worn components as necessary before installing the new belt.
Route the belt according to the correct vehicle belt-routing diagram and verify proper seating in every pulley groove before starting the engine.
If the application uses an automatic belt tensioner, Gates recommends inspecting the tensioner during belt replacement and replacing it if worn or damaged.
