The Mishimoto MMRAD-WRX-01X X-Line Performance Aluminum Radiator is designed for manual-transmission Subaru WRX and WRX STI applications that need increased cooling capacity for demanding street, track, or modified turbocharged use.
The X-Line version features a large 3-row, 2-inch-thick aluminum core with TIG-welded aluminum end tanks and a 100% brazed construction. Compared with the standard Mishimoto radiator, the thicker X-Line core provides increased coolant capacity and additional heat-transfer surface area for more demanding cooling requirements.

X-Line 3-Row Core
The MMRAD-WRX-01X uses Mishimoto's larger X-Line 3-row core with a 2-inch core thickness. The larger aluminum core increases coolant volume and heat-transfer surface area, making it well suited to modified turbocharged engines, aggressive driving, and track use where cooling demands are higher than stock.
Dual Radiator Cap System
Mishimoto supplies two different 1.3 bar radiator caps for this Subaru cooling-system layout. The one-way circular cap is installed on the radiator, while the two-way six-sided cap is installed on the expansion tank. Each cap serves a different function in the cooling system and should be installed in the correct location.
Recommended Use
- Modified Subaru WRX and WRX STI builds
- High-boost turbocharged applications
- Performance street driving
- Track-day and motorsport use
- Owners replacing an aging factory plastic-tank radiator
- Applications needing additional cooling capacity
What’s Included
- 1 Mishimoto MMRAD-WRX-01X X-Line aluminum radiator
- 1 Mishimoto two-way expansion-tank radiator cap
- 1 Mishimoto one-way radiator cap
- 1 1/16-inch NPT plug
- 1 magnetic drain plug
- Fan mounting hardware
Installation Notes
Due to the additional thickness of the 3-row X-Line radiator, Mishimoto notes that trimming the upper radiator hose may be necessary.
For 2002–2003 Subaru WRX models built before July 2002, Mishimoto instructs the installer to remove the fill-neck overflow nipple and replace it with the supplied plug.
Before operating the vehicle, verify that all plugs, fittings, hose connections, and mounting hardware are fully tightened. Recheck the cooling system for leaks after the first few heat cycles.
