The Project Kics R40 Neo Chrome Lug Nut and Lock Set combines high-strength SCM435 alloy-steel construction with an open-end design and two-piece floating tapered seats. The complete 20-piece set contains 16 standard lug nuts and four locking lug nuts for compatible aftermarket wheels using M12 x 1.50 wheel studs.
The Neo Chrome finish gives the lug nuts a distinctive multicolor appearance, while the floating-seat construction helps protect the wheel during installation. Instead of the complete lug nut rotating directly against the wheel seat, the separate tapered seat can remain positioned against the wheel as the main lug-nut body is tightened.

Fitment
- Thread size: M12 x 1.50
- Wheel-seat type: 60-degree tapered or conical seat
- Configuration: 20-piece set for a four-wheel, five-lug vehicle
- Wheel type: Compatible aftermarket wheels
M12 x 1.50 wheel studs are found on many Honda, Acura, Toyota, Lexus, Mazda, Mitsubishi, and other vehicles. However, matching the thread size does not by itself confirm that these lug nuts will fit the vehicle’s wheels.
Before ordering, verify the wheel-stud thread, wheel-seat profile, seating diameter, stud length, lug-hole diameter, and installation-tool clearance. These lug nuts are not compatible with wheels requiring a ball seat, radius seat, flat seat, mag or shank-style nut, inverted lug nut, or another specialized attachment system.
Many original factory wheels use a different seat shape even when the vehicle is equipped with M12 x 1.50 wheel studs. Do not use this set with factory wheels unless their lug-seat specifications have been confirmed as compatible.
Floating-Seat Design
The R40 uses a separate tapered seat that rotates independently from the primary lug-nut body. This allows the seat to remain positioned against the wheel while the nut is tightened, helping reduce the twisting, scratching, and gouging that can occur with a conventional one-piece lug nut.
Correct installation remains essential. The floating seat must fully contact the matching tapered seat in the wheel, and the lug nut must clamp the wheel before reaching the end of the available stud threads.
Neo Chrome Finish
The Neo Chrome finish produces an iridescent appearance that can display different tones depending on the viewing angle, surrounding colors, and lighting. Careful hand installation is recommended to help preserve the decorative finish.
Avoid excessive impact-wrench use or worn installation tools, which can scratch or damage the finished surfaces and locking key engagement areas.
Recommended Use
Recommended for street, show, and track vehicles equipped with compatible aftermarket wheels and M12 x 1.50 wheel studs. The open-end design can accommodate extended wheel studs when sufficient clearance remains for the standard socket and wheel-lock key.

One locking lug nut can be installed on each wheel of a four-wheel, five-lug vehicle. Keep the supplied lock key in a secure and accessible location inside the vehicle.
Installation
Confirm that the thread pitch and wheel-seat design are correct before installation. Start each lug nut by hand for several complete turns to prevent cross-threading. Make sure the floating seat is correctly positioned and that the lug nut does not bottom out on the stud before securing the wheel.
Tighten the lug nuts gradually in the correct crossing pattern using the torque specification provided by the vehicle or wheel manufacturer. Do not use an impact wrench to start the threads, and avoid excessive impact force during tightening or removal.
Recheck the lug-nut torque after the initial driving interval recommended by the wheel manufacturer. Periodically inspect the lug nuts, locks, floating seats, wheel studs, and key for wear or damage.
