Project Kics R40 Iconix M12 x 1.25 Neo Chrome Lug Nut & Lock Set

The Project Kics R40 Iconix Lug Nut and Lock Set combines Neo Chrome forged-steel lug nuts with removable black plastic end caps. This complete 20-piece set includes 16 standard lug nuts and four locking lug nuts for compatible aftermarket wheels using M12 x 1.25 wheel studs.

Each lug nut features Project Kics’ two-piece floating-seat design. The tapered centering seat rotates independently from the primary lug-nut body, helping provide consistent clamping while reducing scratching and marring at the wheel’s lug seat.

M12 x 1.25 wheel studs are commonly used on many Subaru, Nissan, Infiniti, Scion FR-S, Toyota 86, Toyota GR86, and other applications. Thread pitch alone does not confirm lug-nut compatibility.

Before ordering, verify the vehicle’s wheel-stud thread, wheel-seat shape, seating diameter, stud length, lug-hole diameter, and installation-tool clearance. These lug nuts are not compatible with wheels requiring a ball seat, radius seat, flat seat, mag or shank-style nut, inverted lug nut, or another specialized attachment system.

Project Kics specifies these tapered lug nuts for compatible aftermarket wheels. Do not install them on factory wheels unless the wheel’s lug-seat specifications have been confirmed as compatible.

R40 Iconix Removable Caps

The included black plastic caps convert the open-ended Iconix lug nuts to a finished, closed-end appearance. They can help shield the exposed end of a standard-length wheel stud while creating contrast against the Neo Chrome lug-nut body.

The caps are removable using the supplied resin tool. Remove the caps when additional clearance is required for extended wheel studs. Before installing a cap, verify that the stud does not project far enough to contact or dislodge it.

Floating-Seat Design

The R40 Iconix uses a separate tapered centering ring that can rotate independently from the main lug-nut body. During tightening, the seat remains positioned against the wheel while the lug body turns, reducing the friction and twisting that can damage a wheel’s finished lug seat.

The floating seat must sit fully and evenly against the matching 60-degree seat in the wheel. A matching thread pitch does not compensate for an incorrect wheel-seat shape.

Recommended Use

Recommended for street, show, and track vehicles equipped with compatible aftermarket wheels and M12 x 1.25 wheel studs. The removable-cap design is suitable for standard studs as well as compatible extended studs when the caps are removed.

The set provides one locking lug nut for each wheel of a four-wheel, five-lug vehicle. Store the wheel-lock key, 17 mm socket, and cap tool in a secure and accessible location inside the vehicle.

Installation

Confirm the wheel-stud thread and wheel-seat design before installation. Start every lug nut by hand for several complete turns to prevent cross-threading. Verify that each floating seat is positioned correctly and that the lug nut clamps the wheel before reaching the end of its available threads.

Tighten the lug nuts gradually in the appropriate crossing pattern using the torque specification supplied by the vehicle or wheel manufacturer. Use the included socket and lock key carefully to protect the Neo Chrome finish. Do not use an impact wrench to start the threads or apply uncontrolled final torque.

Install the plastic caps with the supplied resin tool only after verifying wheel-stud clearance. Recheck lug-nut torque after the initial driving interval recommended by the wheel manufacturer, and periodically inspect the lug nuts, seats, caps, wheel studs, socket, and locking key for wear or damage.
