The ARP Main Stud Kit provides high-strength main-cap fastening for Chevrolet Gen V 6.2L LT1 V8 engine builds. It replaces the applicable factory main-cap fasteners with black-oxide chromoly studs, 12-point nuts, hardened washers, and replacement M8 side bolts.
Main studs provide consistent thread engagement in the engine block and allow the clamping load to be applied through the nut during final assembly. This kit is intended for performance engine assembly, rebuilding, and other LT1 applications where secure and repeatable main-cap clamping is required.

Fitment
- Chevrolet Gen V 6.2L LT1 V8 engine
ARP officially identifies this kit for the Gen V 6.2L LT1. Confirm the engine code, block configuration, main-cap design, stud lengths, and required side bolts before ordering.
This kit should not be selected solely because an engine is described as a Chevrolet small-block or 6.2L V8. Earlier LT1 engines, LS-series engines, and other Gen V LT-based engine combinations may require different fasteners.
Fastener and Torque Specifications
- Inner stud length: 4.770 inches
- Inner stud torque: 65 ft-lb
- Outer stud length: 4.000 inches
- Outer stud torque: 55 ft-lb
- M8 side-bolt torque: 25 ft-lb
- Nut style: 12-point
- Lubricant: ARP Ultra-Torque
ARP specifies tightening the fasteners in three equal steps while following the engine manufacturer’s recommended torque sequence. The listed torque values apply when ARP Ultra-Torque lubricant is used as directed.
Recommended Use
Recommended for Chevrolet Gen V 6.2L LT1 engine rebuilding, performance assembly, main-bearing service, or installations requiring high-strength reusable main-cap studs.
The engine block and main caps must be inspected and measured as part of the assembly process. Installing higher-strength fasteners changes the clamping force applied to the main-bearing bores and may affect their size and roundness.
What’s Included
- Inner main studs
- Outer main studs
- 12-point nuts
- Hardened washers
- M8 side bolts
- ARP Ultra-Torque fastener assembly lubricant
- Installation instructions
Installation
Clean all threaded holes in the block before installation and use a proper thread chaser when necessary. Inspect every fastener for correct fit, length, dimensions, or damage before beginning assembly.
Install the main studs into the block hand-tight only. Install the main caps and check for binding or misalignment. Lubricate the stud threads, nuts, and applicable bearing surfaces with the supplied ARP Ultra-Torque lubricant before tightening.
Using the engine manufacturer’s recommended torque sequence, tighten the fasteners in three equal steps to 65 ft-lb for the 4.770-inch inner studs, 55 ft-lb for the 4.000-inch outer studs, and 25 ft-lb for the M8 side bolts. ARP instructs installers to apply RTV sealant beneath the heads and on the inside of the washers for the M8 side bolts.
After the studs are installed at the recommended preload, check the main-bearing bores for correct size and out-of-round condition. Align-honing may be required. When align-honing is performed, use the same fasteners, lubricant, and preload that will be used during final engine assembly. Professional engine-machine-shop inspection and installation are strongly recommended.
