The ED+ friction compound is designed to maintain consistent braking performance across a wide operating-temperature range. It provides strong braking from cold while resisting fade during repeated stops, towing, steep descents, and other conditions that can push factory-style brake pads beyond their normal operating range. EBC rates the compound for effective operation at temperatures exceeding 1,400°F.

EBC reformulated its Extra Duty range into the ED+ specification to improve pad life while retaining quiet operation and rotor-friendly performance. The carbon-granule-based compound is designed to produce minimal brake dust and includes noise-control features for refined street use.

Each pad set uses EBC’s NUCAP NRS backing-plate retention system, which mechanically locks the friction material to the backing plate. NUCAP piston-insert insulator shims help control noise, while EBC’s red Brake-In surface coating provides safe initial braking and helps accelerate the bedding process after installation.
